Weekly Portfolio Performance Chart

Equity Markets:

Indian equities had a choppy week, but the broader tone was slightly negative to range-bound rather than a clean trend. The market struggled to build on early strength, and sentiment stayed cautious through the week. Volatility remained elevated, with India VIX near 18.6, which tells you traders were still expecting sharp swings rather than steady moves. Global risk cues and geopolitical uncertainty continued to weigh on appetite for fresh buying.

Key Market Triggers

Geopolitics and crude oil: US–Iran tensions, ceasefire uncertainty, and Brent moving above $100 were repeatedly cited as key negatives, keeping investors risk-averse.

IT sector weakness: Selling in large IT names and weak guidance/earnings commentary hurt the Nifty, especially on 22–24 Apr.

Volatility rise: India VIX stayed elevated around 18.6, signaling rising near-term uncertainty and sharper intraday swings.

Selective support from earnings: Strong Q4 commentary in parts of BFSI and some domestic sectors helped earlier in the week, but it was not enough to offset the broader drag.
