Weekly Portfolio Performance Chart

Equity Markets:

The equity markets staged a resilient recovery this week, reversing most of the previous week's steep correction. After a volatile first half of the week—highlighted by the mega-listing of Jio Platforms on Wednesday—the benchmark indices surged across Thursday and Friday following the US Federal Reserve's decision to keep policy rates unchanged. Despite Brent crude oil remaining elevated in the $114–$118 per barrel range, strong Q2 FY27 corporate earnings, cooling domestic bond yields, and selective institutional buying propelled the Nifty 50 back above the psychological 23,000 mark by Friday's close.

Key Market Triggers

  • US Fed Holds Rates & Cooling Bond Yields: Global and domestic risk appetite improved sharply in the second half of the week after the US Federal Reserve kept interest rates unchanged, easing immediate fears of another aggressive hike. Concurrently, India's benchmark 10-year government bond yield eased by over 9 bps to ~7.38%, snapping a record 10-week losing streak in bond prices and supporting equity valuations.
  • Q2 FY27 Earnings & Jio Platforms Listing: Stock-specific action dominated the week as Q2 FY27 results drove sharp rallies in names like Trent, L&T, Tata Consumer Products, Dr. Reddy's, JSW Steel, and Adani Ports. Additionally, Wednesday witnessed India's largest-ever IPO debut as Jio Platforms listed with an ~21% premium at ₹1,358, commanding a valuation of around ₹12.5 lakh crore.
  • Elevated Crude Oil vs. Rupee Stability: While Brent crude surged back toward $114–$118 per barrel amid persistent Middle East supply concerns—capping gains in oil marketing and auto counters—the Indian Rupee held relatively steady around 95.00–95.22 against the US dollar, aided by improved domestic inflows and regulatory optimism around FPI compliance reviews and LTCG tax discussions.
