Weekly Portfolio Performance Chart

Equity Markets:

The Indian stock market witnessed a strong bullish recovery during the week, successfully shaking off the previous week's steep sell-off. Driven by robust corporate earnings, easing crude oil prices, and optimistic institutional inflows, both frontline indices posted significant gains as the Nifty 50 confidently reclaimed and sustained levels above the 24,300 mark.

Key Market Triggers

  • Easing Geopolitical Tensions: The US and Iran paused military strikes, which significantly eased concerns over potential disruptions to key global shipping routes and global oil supplies. This shift in geopolitical dynamics improved global risk appetite and encouraged investors to return to equities.
  • Sharp Decline in Crude Oil Prices: Brent crude fell substantially from near $100 per barrel down to approximately $88 per barrel. Since India is heavily reliant on oil imports, lower prices provide major economic relief by reducing the import bill, easing inflationary pressures, and lowering input costs for fuel-sensitive sectors.
  • Value Buying After Steep Correction: Indian markets had experienced a severe correction the previous week, losing over 2%. The combination of lower valuations and improving global cues created a compelling entry point for value buying, driving broad-based accumulation across various sectors.
  • Rupee Appreciation: The Indian rupee strengthened to a two-week high, supported by falling crude oil prices which reduced the demand for dollars. A stronger rupee eases concerns regarding India's external balances and boosts foreign investor confidence.
  • Positive Global Cues: Asian markets traded firmly in the green, and US futures indicated strong support, reinforcing the positive sentiment in domestic markets.
