Weekly Portfolio Performance Chart
Equity Markets:
Indian equities had a highly volatile, downward‑biased week from 23–27 March 2026, with Nifty oscillating around 22,500–23,300 as Middle East tensions, high crude, FII selling and a weak rupee weighed on sentiment.
Key Market Triggers
Geopolitics: Intensifying Iran–Israel/US tensions remained the dominant driver, triggering global risk‑off, hurting EM equities like India and specifically pressuring financials and cyclicals.
Crude oil: Brent hovered in an elevated band (around the low‑110s), keeping India’s imported inflation and current‑account concerns alive and feeding into equity risk premiums.
Currency: The rupee traded weak, around record‑low territory near 94.5 versus the dollar, which further dented foreign investor confidence and added to volatility.
Global markets: Asian and European indices also fell sharply early in the week, reinforcing negative sentiment and contributing to the initial gap‑down in Indian indices.
