Weekly Portfolio Performance Chart
Equity Markets:
Indian equities had a volatile, mostly weak week: the week began with a sharp selloff, followed by a midweek relief rebound, but sentiment remained cautious because global risk factors, institutional flow divergence, and technical weakness kept pressure on the market.
Key Market Triggers
Global risk-off sentiment — Indian markets were hit by global volatility, including geopolitical tensions and risk aversion across equities, which triggered the sharp fall at the start of the week and kept traders defensive.
Crude oil volatility — Rising and volatile crude prices weighed on sentiment because they increase inflation and import-cost concerns for India, and this was specifically cited as a factor behind the early-week decline.
Relief rally and short covering — Midweek gains were helped by oversold conditions, short covering, and a bounce from support zones, which lifted Nifty and improved market breadth temporarily. However, analysts still viewed this as a relief move, not a full reversal of the prior downtrend.
