Weekly Portfolio Performance Chart
Equity Markets:
The Indian stock market delivered a strong performance during the week of October 13-17, 2025, with benchmark indices posting healthy gains and reaching 52 weeks highs. The rally was supported by favorable macroeconomic data, positive quarterly earnings momentum, declining crude oil prices, and sustained domestic institutional buying.
Key Market Triggers
Inflation Relief:
India's retail inflation plummeted to 1.54% in September 2025, the lowest level since June 2017 and well below the RBI's 2-6% target range. Food inflation turned negative at -2.28%, the steepest decline since December 2018, driven by falling vegetable and pulse prices. This fueled expectations of potential rate cuts by the Reserve Bank of India.
Crude Oil Decline:
Brent crude oil prices fell to around $60-61 per barrel, testing five-month lows and heading for a third consecutive weekly decline. WTI crude dropped to $57 per barrel. The decline in oil prices benefited Indian markets by reducing import costs and inflationary pressures while boosting margins for paint and aviation sectors.
Gold Rally:
Gold prices surged to record highs both globally and domestically, with international spot gold crossing $4,379 per ounce on Friday. In India, 24-carat gold jumped by Rs 3,330 per 10 grams to Rs 1,33,770 ahead of Dhanteras. The rally was driven by US-China trade tensions, dollar weakness, and safe-haven demand.
Currency Movements:
The Indian rupee showed mixed movements during the week, trading between 87.81 and 88.78 against the US dollar. The rupee strengthened mid-week before weakening slightly, closing around 87.87 on October 17
