The FED has cut the 50 bps interest rate for the first time since 2020. This was the much awaited action that marked a monitoring easing. In light of the widespread optimism in the financial markets this week, the Nifty Index reached and closed near the ATH mark. India's CPI inflation rate rose marginally from 3.60% in July to 3.65% in August. GST collection for August 2024 comes at 1.75 lakh crore showing robust 10% YoY growth. At its policy meeting in August 2024, the RBI decided to maintain the 6.5% repo rate in place. US inflation decreased to 2.5% in August from 2.9% in July. The head of the Fed signaled a rate cut even if the targeted inflation rate of 2% is not being met.
