Weekly Portfolio Performance Chart
The Nifty Index had a quiet start to 2024, and we have observed volatility and range-bound behavior in the Index. Although the Nifty reached an all-time high this week, it was unable to maintain the momentum and closed at the 21710 level. The Fed released its December 2023 MoM, and it signaled that rate cuts would occur in the second half of the year, longer than anticipated. The world market is alarmed by that. India's CPI inflation rate increased to 5.55% in November from 4.87% in October mostly due to food price and that is in-line with the expectations. The Fed has maintain the status quo and kept the policy rate unchanged. Fed's dovish commentary on the inflation outlook and possible rule out of the further rate hike boost the global market. India's Q2 2023 GDP growth rate of 7.6% beats the consensus estimate of 6.8%. Th RBI has kept the repo rate unchanged at 6.5% in December 2023 policy meet.
Nifty closed above the 20 EMA, 50 DMA, and the 200 DMA suggesting the strong up trend in the Index.
