We have seen the carnage in all the indices for this week. The Nifty Index's movement was extreme at both the ends. The Nifty Index crossed below 19000 mark but managed to close above it at the end. September month CPI inflation for India is at 5.02% compared to 6.83% in August. RBI has maintained the status quo and kept the repo rate at 6.5%. Also, Incremental CRR measure has been withdraw. Global markets are under pressure due to raising the US bond yield. Also, the US dollar index is rising due to concerns about inflation, and emerging markets are under pressure. Although the Fed has halted the rate hike, its hawkish rhetoric suggested a future rate hike, which alarmed global markets. India's GDP growth rate for Q1 2023 comes at 7.8%, which aligns with the market expectation. India's GDP growth rate for the final three months of FY 2023 was 6.1%, and for the entire year, it was 7.2%, exceeding the forecasted figure of 7%.

Nifty closed below the 20 EMA and 50 DMA, and above the 200 DMA suggesting the up trend reversal or pause in the uptrend in the Index.

In September 2023Models 1, and 3 returned +2.08 percent, and +6.06 percent respectively, compared to the Nifty 50 Index's +2.00 percent return.

In September 2023, the Nifty Long-Short is up +14.67 percent.

For the year 2022 (1st January 2022 - 30 December 2021), Model 1, 3, and Nifty Long-Short returned -17.87%, -3.31%, and +31.43%, respectively, compared to the Nifty 50 Index's return of +4.27%.

Year To Date - 2023

Models 1, and 3 returned +22.05 percent, and +13.99 percent respectively, compared to Nifty's +5.20 percent return for 2023.

The Nifty Long-Short year-to-date return (from January 1, 2023) is now +5.44 percent, compared to the Index's +5.20 percent.

From July 12th, 2021, the Model 3 is up +33%, compared to 41% for the Nifty Midcap Index.

Summary since inception 

Since its debut, Model 1 has increased by 175 percent. The Nifty index has risen by 76 percent over the same time span.

Since its debut, the Nifty long-short strategy has returned 144 percent on capital and 266 percent on margin money.

Model 1 has been operational since July 13, 2020, whereas the Index Long-Short strategy has been operational since August 14, 2020. Model 3 has been operating since July 12, 2021.
