Weekly Portfolio Performance Chart

Equity Markets:

For the week, Indian stock markets were volatile and headline-driven, ending with only marginal gains overall as a strong Monday rally was followed by weaker sessions, a Thursday holiday, and a sharp Friday selloff.
The market tone stayed range-bound rather than trend-led, with sentiment swinging mainly on global cues instead of any broad domestic risk-on move.

Key Market Triggers

  • Geopolitical tension around the US-Iran situation kept risk appetite fragile through the week and repeatedly changed market direction.
  • Crude oil was the biggest macro driver, with Monday’s drop below $100 lifting equities and later firming in oil prices reviving inflation and sentiment concerns.
  • Rupee weakness added pressure during the Tuesday correction and contributed to a more cautious undertone.
  • Banking stocks led the early-week rebound, while broader participation became less convincing as the week progressed.
