The Nifty Index remained range-bound this week and ended close to the 18500 level. India's GDP growth rate for the fourth quarter of FY 2023 is 6.1%, and for the entire year, it is 7.2%, which is higher than the anticipated 7% number. India's CPI print for April came in at 4.7%, which was less than anticipated. The fact that inflation is moderate is encouraging. RBI this week keeps the repo rate unchanged at 6.5%.
Nifty closed above the 20 EMA, 50 DMA, and 200 DMA.

In May 2023, Models 1, and 3 returned +0.86 percent, and +0.67 percent respectively, compared to the Nifty 50 Index's +2.06 percent return.
In May 2023, the Nifty Long-Short is up +1.22 percent.
For the year 2022 (1st January 2022 - 30 December 2021), Model 1, 3, and Nifty Long-Short returned -17.87%, -3.31%, and +31.43%, respectively, compared to the Nifty 50 Index's return of +4.27%.
Year To Date - 2023
Models 1, and 3 returned -2.73 percent, and -6.18 percent respectively, compared to Nifty's +2.53 percent return for the year 2023.
The Nifty Long-Short year-to-date return (from January 1, 2023) is now -4.68 percent, compared to the Index's +2.53 percent.
From July 12th, 2021, the Model 3 is up +10%, compared to 24% for the Nifty Midcap Index.
Summary since inception
Since its debut, Model 1 has increased by 120 percent. The Nifty index has increased by 72 percent over the same time span.
Since its debut, the Nifty long-short strategy has returned 121 percent on capital and 224 percent on margin money.
Model 1 has been operational since July 13, 2020, whereas the Index Long-Short strategy has been operational since August 14, 2020. Model 3 has been operational since July 12, 2021.
